Why travel with us

Silk Road trips that reward slow attention

Local, not local-flavoured

Our office in Tashkent is staffed by an Uzbek team, with regional leads in Bukhara, Samarkand, the Fergana Valley and Nukus. The guide on the ground is the person who designed your day.

Small groups, real access

We cap groups at 4 to 8 travellers so we can knock on a family door, cook in a home kitchen, or arrange a private evening at the Registan without the friction of numbers.

Fair to your date

A 30% deposit reserves your seat. Fully refundable up to 90 days out, 50% refundable to 60 days, and reschedulable for free up to 45 days out.

The stories our guests bring home

The private evening entry to Registan Square was the moment we understood why our guide had held back so much of what she knew. It was worth every mile.

Fourteen days across Uzbekistan, and I don't remember once looking at my phone for logistics. Aziza's team booked, moved, and fed us. All I did was pay attention.

Six days in the Fergana Valley with Dilnoza and I have three Rishton bowls in my luggage, and a cousin in Kokand. This is not a normal tour.

How does the deposit and payment work?

A 30% deposit reserves your spot on any small-group departure or private trip. It's fully refundable up to 90 days before departure, and 50% refundable between 60 and 90 days out. The balance is due 60 days before you travel. We accept card, wire, and Wise transfers in USD, EUR or GBP.

Do I need a visa for Uzbekistan?

Most Western passports — including the UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea and the GCC — enter Uzbekistan visa-free for 30 days. A handful of nationalities need an e-visa, which takes about 72 hours and costs $20. We send a country-specific brief with every confirmation.

When is the best time to travel?

April to early June and September to October are the sweet spots — warm, dry days, cool evenings, and the tile work of the Silk Road cities at its best. July and August are hot in Bukhara and Khiva (35 – 42°C) but still workable if you pace the day around early mornings. Winter is quiet and photogenic.

How large are your groups?

Small-group tours cap at 4 to 8 travellers depending on the itinerary — the Photographer's Uzbekistan is capped at 4, the Grand Tour at 6, and the Silk Road Classic at 8. Every tour on our site can be run privately from two travellers up.

Are the trips physically demanding?

Uzbekistan is a soft-adventure country. Days involve two to four hours on your feet on flat ground with plenty of shade and tea breaks. The one exception is the Aral Sea day out of Muynak, which is a long drive on a rough road. We flag pace and terrain on every tour page.
