How to enter Uzbekistan from Uruguay
- 1
Apply online
Go to e-visa.gov.uz and complete the application form as a Uruguayan passport holder. You'll upload a passport bio-page scan and a passport-style photo (JPG, <5MB, colour, plain background).
- 2
Pay USD $20 with card
Payment is by Visa or Mastercard on the portal. Single- and multiple-entry options cost the same $20 fee.
- 3
Wait 3 business days
The e-visa is emailed to you as a PDF. Print it (and save a phone copy) — you'll show it at check-in and at Uzbek immigration.
- 4
Arrive in Uzbekistan
Fly into Tashkent (TAS) or Samarkand (SKD) — both have modern international terminals. Domestic flights and high-speed Afrosiyob trains connect directly to Bukhara and Khiva. Pass through immigration with your printed e-visa and passport.
- 5
Register within 3 working days
Your hotel handles migration registration on check-in. If you're staying with friends or in an unregistered Airbnb, register yourself through the e-mehmon portal.
What to bring at the border
- Valid passport (6+ months from arrival, 1 blank page)
- Printed e-visa PDF (colour)
- Arrival migration card (given at immigration)
- Proof of accommodation (booking confirmation)
- Return or onward flight ticket
- Sufficient funds for your stay (USD in cash is widely accepted)
Extending your stay & registration
Migration registration. Every foreign visitor must be registered at their accommodation within 3 working days of arrival. Hotels and licensed guest-houses handle this automatically at check-in — keep the small paper slips they give you until departure. Airbnb hosts should register through the e-mehmon online portal.
Extensions. The 30-day e-visa can't be extended once you're in the country — apply for a fresh visa or a longer-term consular visa if you need more time. Overstaying triggers fines and a possible entry ban.
If you overstay. Fines are typically a few hundred US dollars per week of overstay, plus a possible short-term entry ban. Airline staff at Tashkent airport usually check visa validity at check-in.
