Answers before you ask
How does the deposit and payment work?
A 30% deposit reserves your spot on any small-group departure or private trip. It's fully refundable up to 90 days before departure, and 50% refundable between 60 and 90 days out. The balance is due 60 days before you travel. We accept card, wire, and Wise transfers in USD, EUR or GBP.
Do I need a visa for Uzbekistan?
Most Western passports — including the UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea and the GCC — enter Uzbekistan visa-free for 30 days. A handful of nationalities need an e-visa, which takes about 72 hours and costs $20. We send a country-specific brief with every confirmation.
When is the best time to travel?
April to early June and September to October are the sweet spots — warm, dry days, cool evenings, and the tile work of the Silk Road cities at its best. July and August are hot in Bukhara and Khiva (35 – 42°C) but still workable if you pace the day around early mornings. Winter is quiet and photogenic.
How large are your groups?
Small-group tours cap at 4 to 8 travellers depending on the itinerary — the Photographer's Uzbekistan is capped at 4, the Grand Tour at 6, and the Silk Road Classic at 8. Every tour on our site can be run privately from two travellers up.
Are the trips physically demanding?
Uzbekistan is a soft-adventure country. Days involve two to four hours on your feet on flat ground with plenty of shade and tea breaks. The one exception is the Aral Sea day out of Muynak, which is a long drive on a rough road. We flag pace and terrain on every tour page.
What kind of accommodation should I expect?
In cities we use boutique heritage hotels: restored merchant houses in Bukhara, courtyard properties in Khiva, and design-led hotels in Tashkent and Samarkand. In the Kyzylkum we use a well-run Kazakh yurt camp with hot showers. All rooms are private and en-suite unless clearly noted.
Can I meet my guide before booking?
Yes. Once you've told us which trip you're interested in, we'll set up a video call with the lead guide (Aziza for the Silk Road cities, Dilnoza for the Fergana Valley, Sardor for Karakalpakstan, Bekzod for the photography trip). Most travellers book after that call.
Is Uzbekistan safe for travellers?
Very. Uzbekistan has one of the lowest violent-crime rates in Central Asia, no active political tensions affecting travellers, and a reputation for warm hospitality. Our biggest safety focus is summer heat and long-distance driving in Karakalpakstan; we brief every group carefully before those sections.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
You can move your date to another departure of the same tour up to 45 days out with no fee. For full cancellations: full refund of your deposit up to 90 days before departure, 50% between 60 and 90 days, and no refund inside 60 days. We strongly recommend travel insurance.
